My reflections:

Donaldson’s Review:  literacy, numeracy and digital competence.  It is interesting that he emphases on “digital” as it seems normal to many that we are already living in a digital world, why need to?  With fast and the evolution of technology, and with our kids the fingers and thumbs generation, it is imperative to educate them digital as part of holistic education and we should not underestimate the power and influence of the “1s and Os”.

  1. I totally agree with u, Huan Leng. There are many things that our kids can access online and so they may have gained much more knowledge than we have ever imagined. Learning is no longer the same as when we were young and teachers were the only source of knowledge. Now we are also on the learning journey as our kids. The only difference we have is the vast life experiences that we have gained and thus we have to use our life experiences to guide our kids along the right path and ensure their learning is meaningful.

  2. Interesting insights Huan Leng. Totally agree that to learn the digital literacies is imperative. Interesting that WE as educators are learning and being educated a bout the space as we go along. We do need to lead our learning and get the learning in the most creative and applicable way to our charges... no mean feat.... but like what linda said... " if we are suppose to lead.... LEAD"! :)
