Lily's Reflection for Morning's Session

This morning's session reminded me the importance of making things concrete from abstract for our students. The challenge we face is how to equip teachers to with the skills  to facilitate this.

I like the example of how teachers need to explain the concept of internet through a simple analogy of a city ie how it is connected, with good and bad people, with places are like cinema and different norms.

This really makes it relatable and easier to understand for the students.  It is good reminder for us to consciously role model this for our teachers in our PD sessions.

  1. I second the idea... maybe there should be a collection of analogies that all teachers can use.

  2. How do we "teach" these skills to teachers without negating or diminishing their role as creative and effective designer of learning?

  3. Teachers need to be constantly update or upgrade ourselves. If not, without the knowledge it would be impossible to explain the abstract with concrete examples or elaboration. One source to learn would be the internet...youtube, forum...etc. Recently, I just learn how to use "chkdsk_/f" to fix by portable harddisk which crashed from a forum post by a tech expert from India. Reallly thankful for this chap.
