My insight

The morning session reinforced the importance to know the ins and outs of the internet to be an informed educator. One can stay ignorant but he will become irrelevant and disconnect from his students. Educators function in an ever-changing context and profile of students. Hence teachers' professional development should include digital competency too.

  1. Digital competency needs to be contextualized to the teacher. Sometimes, the struggle is not knowing the environment of the teacher long enough for us to have a conversation about these contexts. How do we bridge this gap?

  2. By acknowledging that learning requires social interaction and collaboration, it may ease the perceived burden or challenges of being updated with digital competency in ever-changing context and profile of students. Perhaps, knowing that we are 'not in this alone' makes teachers realise the need to be constantly upgraded in terms of digital competency.
